Where are my clients?

Oh its a slow week in the world of massage, and mama is BROKE as a joke!

I dislike very much these times of scrounging by, wishing for the best, hoping that things turn out okay for the rest of the week. At the same time I appreciate them, reminding me of what I do (and don't have) in this world and helping me know that I can get through just about any tough time...its bad right now but OH LORD its been much much worse

So I'm blogging, I'm getting things off my mind, I'm taking care of business. I'm doing the things that I need to do so that when my business is ready to get moving, I'm ready to move with it.

And its fall, the leaves are turning, the weather is getting cold, I've broken out my leopard print winter jacket, and I'm ready for fall food, tonight I'm making home made hot pockets so be prepared for that tutorial coming up this week or next., its a great way to use leftovers, without them actually TASTING like leftovers!

I've also been taking some great pictures on my travels, check out this Amish (or something) brother and sister I saw outside of the grocery store in PA

That's all for now! Working on some great stories for the next few weeks so be sure to stay tuned!

Brrr....

Umm excuse me is it just me or was it just summer in New England like last week?

I'm waking up and using my electric car starter and dying for coffee?? Oh sucks here we go!

Today I'm rocking some boots and a sweater and ::oh my:: a scarf, I SWEAR I swear I'm not going crazy it is really this cold out.

(here is me NOT missing California)

I'm not gonna lie, when it comes to weather California has the East coast beat. I would much rather be dealing with the dry same day in and day out predictability that the North Bay always provided me with. I did love to drink up that beautiful fog always sent in from the Pacific breeze.

But here in New England there is something familiar about it all, the smell of a crisp fall day in comparison to that of a cold winter frosty morning, there is something about combining all your senses into one East Coast feeling, the way a cigarette tastes with coffee still on your tongue and the cold air biting your nose while you watch the steam rise up from that same cup of coffee. I love hearing the taps every morning from the Coast Guard Academy, while I go to grab a last minute item out of my purse before I head to work.

There is something here, something about the way the Berkshires feel, when you play James Taylor and sip on yet another cup of coffee and smoke that cigarette, or whatever it may be that your smoking on up there in those hills, its cold so cold, but its somehow more peaceful the Utah or Tahoe, something about being far enough away from civilization so that you can still see the milky way gleam bright in the night sky, but close enough to know that you can go visit grandma just a few hours away, or go grab milk for the baby if you run out.

No Northern California was nothing like this, it had its own charm a barren, charm where everything was far away and closed off, the Wild West, to me the appeal was short lived, but I understand the love that people have for it, the raging rivers in spring that disappear by the time fall comes around the next year. I get it its glorious, nothing to bother the natural curve of the land, where it looks like it just fell right off the edge and into the sea, where the sea breeze is so strong that nothing can bother to live except a few brave juniper trees, roots clinging for dear life as the branches are molded by wind.

But there is nothing out there, to me there is a thing as being too free, and California was just that, you can do whatever you want there which leads people to do nothing

But now back here in CT on this cold fall day (and didn't fall JUST get here?) I'm brought back to being a child, brought back to smelling pumpkin bread in the oven after a day at school, back to making brownies and planning halloween parties with my mom (who always had the best ones)  I'm inspired to be a better mother, now that doesn't mean I'll be the best mother (but hey I'm not sure mother of the year was ever in my cards) but with all the fun things to do around here in the fall, I'm super excited to get started on some Pumpkin-turkey-leave-super-fun-time

Back and ready for the season

Well its been about six months, probably longer, but I've honestly missed my little blog to the world

What have I been up to well, lots to say the least
After graduating massage school in Petaluma California from the National Holistic Institute; I moved back out East to CT with my family, I am now living with my two best friends in the world as well as my now three year old daughter

I've been single momming it to the max lately, after working night shifts for about three months, I quit that job and am now working at a lawyer doing data entry as well as doing my massage therapy on the side

I recently passed the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, it was a tough exam after a long weekend but I did it and I'm pretty excited that I'll be getting my certification in CT very soon!

I'm happy that I've finally passed the certification and that I quit the night job, I have much less money but I have been spending a New England Fall with my daughter and myself, my daughter have been having the time of our lives.,

I'm working on getting some products for review as well as some giveaways for the fall, most of my time has been spent at home and weekends I have been frequenting music festivals selling massages because hey, its what I do!

The single mom life out here is hard, there is money to be made, but you need to find your niche, I'm thankful to the amazing help that I've found out here through friends and family.

This month you can expect to see some pictures and recipes from the fall as well as some ideas on products that I have found irreplaceable!

Stay tuned, I'm so glad to be back!

Work Is Something

Guest post written by my buddy Royce Heath
Work is something I love to do, not do something I have to do, but I think part of the reason is because I love my job. I know not many people feel this way about going into the office but I guess I'm just one of those lucky ones who found the right position at the right time for the right price. The only thing I don't really like about my job is a lot of my coworkers… They don't really seem to understand professional boundaries when it comes to e-mailing or calling me at home. I spent a lot of time in the office but when I leave I expect to be left alone until I come back the next day but for whatever reason as soon as I get home my phone is almost always ringing off the hook. I recently got clear wire wimaxand I was a terrible decision because now I'm e-mailing with my colleagues all night long instead of spending time with my husband and children!

How Do You Feed a Hungry Giant?

As a mama that loves to cook, I feel blessed that I have a mini-me who shares my kitchen enthusiasm.

When we received How Do You Feed a Hungry Giant  written by  Caitlin Friedman and illustrated by Shaw Nielsen. Both ladies of the kitchen were excited

First it was fun to see all the ways that the boy in the story tries to feed the Hungry Giant that he finds outside his door, making the book even more fun are plenty pull tabs and doors and windows to open and look through, that keep even straying eyes focused on the book!

We also really appreciated the recipes that went along with the book. Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies are always lots of fun and we are excited to try more of the giant recipes from the book!

A sure winner in every house How Do You Feed A Hungry Giant  is sure to impress!

I received a free copy of  How Do You Feed A Hungry Giant for this review. All opinions are  !00% mine. I did not receive any monetary payments for this review.

Kidz SuperFood

I'll admit it, my baby who once ate everything in her eyesight, is not so good about eating her greens anymore, add that in with a mama who simply doesn't have the time to crank out a green smoothie every morning and you have my frustration.

How do I get my two year old to eat everything that she needs?

There was a time when I had all the time in the world to puree foods into other foods and hide the goodies, but my time (and my food processor) have been a bit inaccessible lately which is why I was happy to try

This product from Amazing Grass, is like chocolate milk that is GOOD for your little one (no actually good for them, not like what you tell yourself when the little one is downing chocolate syrup and some milk)

Its a green drink in the form of a powder which is tasty and makes your kids want to eat......err drink their greens!

Each serving contains 3 servings of fruits and vegetables but only 1 gram of sugar!
(already we are beating that chocolate milk)
And its non-dairy, non-gluten, non-caffeinated, non-GMO and VEGAN!

I love it as a before school meal since my little one isn't the best about breakfast, its very easy to persuade her with the word 'chocolate'

So give Kids SuperFood from Amazing Grass a try! Its only $24.99 on sale now for 30 servings! Less then a dollar a day!

I received a free trial of Kids SuperFood from Amazing Grass for this review. All opinions are 100% mine. I did not receiveD any monetary payments for this review.

Start the New Year Healthy with Sun Ridge Farms!

If one of your New Years Resolutions is to stay healthy this year then you should give Sun Ridge Farms a try.

A company based out of Santa Cruz California (an area where I have recently discovered makes some super yummy and nutritious foods)  Sun Ridge Farms is a company with products that are not only delightful for your taste-buds, but good for you and easy on your wallet!

I'll be honest and tell you that the first thing I devoured from the box of goodies was the Dark Chocolate Almonds, the only part of that that I regret was that so few were left after I finished! Made with all natural dark chocolate, a personal favorite of mine. I was happy to enjoy a good 2/3 of the bag.

The Tamari Roasted Mixed Nuts are the perfect snack to bring along on a hike or for a long car trip. Different then the usual salted variety of nuts, Cashews, Almonds, Peanuts, Sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds are coated in Tamari adds a taste that is less harsh then salt. Everyone in the family enjoyed these!

Finally I gave the Organic Nutcracker Crunch a try, Its a delightful Asian inspired trail mix. Which like the Tamari Roasted Nuts, is a great surprise from the usual trail mix of cashews, Chex-mix and m&m's. I loved the Sesame sticks and really felt a boost of energy. It was a great selection when I brought it as a snack for a full day of giving chair massage!  Just a handful between every few massages and I was able to keep sustained through out the day.

I really enjoy the way SunRidge Farms has been able to bring such modern twists to such classic snacks. All the above snacks cost under $5 which make them a great choice when you're low on cash or in a hurry!

So next time that you're stocking up on snacks head on over to the SunRidge Farm site and see if there is a retailer near you, or order some straight from their site!

I received a free box of products from SunRidge Farms for this review. All opinions are 100% mine. I did not receive any monetary payment for this review.
